Ingredients
Apples (6-8 medium, mix of Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Fuji)
Fresh Cranberries (1 1/2 cups)
Granulated Sugar (1/2 cup)
Brown Sugar (1/4 cup)
All-Purpose Flour (2 tablespoons)
Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
Ground Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
Ground Nutmeg (1/4 teaspoon)
Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
All-Purpose Flour (1 cup)
Rolled Oats (1 cup, old-fashioned)
Brown Sugar (1/2 cup)
Granulated Sugar (1/4 cup)
Cold Unsalted Butter (1/2 cup, 1 stick)
Chopped Pecans or Walnuts (1/2 cup)
Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
Salt (1/4 teaspoon)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, combine the apples, cranberries, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss to coat evenly.
Prepare the topping: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the pecans or walnuts.
Pour the apple cranberry filling into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over the filling.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If the topping is browning too quickly, tent the crisp with foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
