- 1 pound fresh green beans
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3-4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- Squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional)
- Trim the ends of the green beans.
- Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- Drain the green beans and pat them dry.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the green beans to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until they are heated through and slightly browned.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add red pepper flakes and a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired.
- Serve immediately.
