  • 1 pound fresh green beans
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3-4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  • Trim the ends of the green beans.
  • Blanch the green beans in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  • Drain the green beans and pat them dry.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • Add the green beans to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until they are heated through and slightly browned.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add red pepper flakes and a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired.
  • Serve immediately.
