Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Sift in the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.
  • Add the flour, salt, and vanilla extract to the bowl, and mix until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out the cookies and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Re-roll any scraps of dough and continue cutting out cookies until all the dough is used.
  • Chill the cookies in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during baking.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes, or until set.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
