  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 6 cups beef broth or chicken broth
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles, broken into pieces
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium-high heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth or chicken broth, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer.
  • Add the broken lasagna noodles to the pot and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Stir in the ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese until melted and creamy.
  • Stir in the heavy cream or half-and-half. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
