Brown Sugar
Eggs
Vanilla Extract
Baking Soda
Salt
Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet and dark)
Cocoa Powder (Dutch-processed)
Green candy melts (optional)
Sprinkles (optional)
Gummy worms (optional)
Gluten-free flour blend (optional)
Vegan butter (optional)
Dairy-free chocolate chips (optional)
Ground flaxseed (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes (or overnight).
Use a cookie scoop to drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is still slightly soft.
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
While the cookies are still warm, decorate with green candy melts to create a ‘bubbling’ effect. Add sprinkles, gummy worms, or other Halloween-themed candies.
