  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of anise extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of confectioners’ sugar
  • Colored sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, anise extract, and lemon zest.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients alternately with milk, mix until a dough forms.
  • Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Roll dough into small balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
  • Let cookies cool completely before glazing.
  • For glaze, mix confectioners’ sugar with a bit of milk until smooth. Dip each cookie top, add sprinkles if desired.
