Millionaire Shortbread Christmas Trees recipe Festive delicious shortbread treats

  • 2 cups (250g) All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup (100g) Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup (225g) Unsalted Butter, cold and cubed
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 1 (14-ounce) can (397g) Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • ½ cup (113g) Unsalted Butter
  • ½ cup (100g) Brown Sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons Golden Syrup (or Light Corn Syrup)
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 12 ounces (340g) Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Shortening or Coconut Oil
  • Optional Decorations: Sprinkles, edible glitter, white chocolate drizzle, mini M&Ms

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, butter, and salt. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until lightly golden.
  • In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, butter, brown sugar, and golden syrup. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and turns golden brown (about 15-20 minutes).
  • Pour the caramel over the baked shortbread base.
  • Melt chocolate chips and shortening (or coconut oil) in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  • Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly.
  • Decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, or other desired decorations.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Use a Christmas tree cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Serve and enjoy!
