Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups (281g) of All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons (12g) of Cocoa Powder
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) of Salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks, 226g) of Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) of Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g), packed, of Brown Sugar
  • 2 of Large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) of Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) of Buttermilk
  • 1-2 teaspoons (5-10ml) of gel food coloring of Red Food Coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups (255g) of Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in the red food coloring and chocolate chips.
  • Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight).
  • Drop by rounded tablespoons (or use a cookie scoop) onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers are still slightly soft.
  • Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
