  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 2-3 tablespoons chili seasoning (or blend of chili powder, cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper)
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, Greek yogurt, avocado, chopped green onions, cilantro, hot sauce

Instructions

  • Brown the ground turkey in a skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the browned turkey, onion, garlic, bell peppers, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, kidney beans, black beans, chili seasoning, and chicken broth to a slow cooker.
  • Stir to combine all ingredients.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Taste and adjust the spices as needed. Add salt to taste.
  • Serve hot and top with your favorite garnishes.
