  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • In a small bowl, combine the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and cinnamon.
  • Roll the dough into 1-inch balls, then roll each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
