St. Patrick’s Day chocolate dipped Oreos recipe.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Oreos
  • 12 ounces melting chocolate
  • 1/4 teaspoon green food coloring (oil-based, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons green sprinkles
  • 2 tablespoons white sprinkles
  • 1/2 teaspoon edible gold dust (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • 1/2 teaspoon shortening (optional, for thinning chocolate)
  • 4 ounces green candy melts
  • 4 ounces white candy melts
  • 1 tablespoon rainbow sprinkles
  • 1/2 teaspoon gold edible glitter
  • 1 tablespoon mini chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon shamrock-shaped sprinkles
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped pistachios

Instructions

  • Gather all your ingredients and set up an assembly line with unwrapped Oreos, small bowls for sprinkles, and a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Melt high-quality melting chocolate or candy melts using a double boiler or microwave. For microwave, heat in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly until 70-80% melted, then stir until smooth. If chocolate is too thick, add about ½ teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening per cup to thin. If using green food coloring, add oil-based drops to a portion of melted white chocolate and stir to desired hue.
  • Take an Oreo, hold it by its side, and submerge it completely into the melted chocolate using a fork or dipping tool. Ensure both sides are coated. Gently lift the Oreo, letting excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Lightly scrape the bottom against the rim to remove drips. Immediately transfer the dipped Oreo to the prepared baking sheet.
  • While the chocolate is still wet, generously sprinkle with your chosen green and white sprinkles, or any festive decor. Repeat this process for all Oreos. Allow the Oreos to set completely at room temperature or for quicker setting, place them in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
  • Melt green and white candy melts separately following the same gentle melting process as the chocolate. Have bowls of rainbow sprinkles, edible gold glitter, mini chocolate chips, shamrock-shaped sprinkles, and finely chopped pistachios ready for decorating.
  • Once your Oreos are coated and have had their initial sprinkle shower, get creative. Drizzle contrasting patterns with melted green or white candy melts over the set chocolate. Dust some Oreos lightly with edible gold glitter or gold dust using a small, clean brush for elegance. Arrange them artfully on a platter for presentation.
