Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour a 9×9-inch baking pan.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.

3. In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter, brown sugar, and molasses until well combined.

4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the hot water, until just combined.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
