Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  5. Divide the dough in half and add red food coloring to one portion, leaving the other plain.
  6. Roll out each portion of dough between two sheets of parchment paper to about ¼ inch thickness.
  7. Use heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out cookies from the dough.
  8. Transfer the cookies to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each cookie.
  9. Decorate the cookies with sprinkles or additional decorative touches.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
