  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Optional: Red food coloring

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • In a bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Mix in vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour, mixing until just incorporated.
  • Pour in the milk and mix until smooth.
  • Optionally, add red food coloring to achieve desired hue.
  • Fill the cupcake liners two-thirds full with batter.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow cupcakes to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Frost with your choice of buttercream or cream cheese frosting.
